A day at the ZOO

Over the weekend Hubby & I took the boys to the zoo! I've been thinking about it for awhile but somehow we never get around to going since our weekends are extremely busy. (Hubby is currently in the process of completing his MBA full time and is away from home Monday to Friday. He comes back for the weekends.) Birthdays, family dinners, friendly get togethers... weekends are the only time we can do it as a family.

Fortunately I found out that the panda bears that have been on loan to the Toronto Zoo are leaving in March so we had to make time for a visit and say hello. (And goodbye I guess.) We arrived at the zoo late in the morning at around 11 and there were already long lineups to purchase regular tickets. There was a line that was relatively shorter on the right for membership and prepaid tickets only. TIP: Definitely purchase your tickets online. It is a time-saver and trust me, if you are going with children, standing in one spot for long is impossible before they start getting fussy.

I honestly don't know if the boys enjoyed this zoo trip more or if I did. I don't remember if I have been to the zoo since the arrival of the pandas in 2013. Heck, I can't even remember when I went to the zoo last. The boys were gifted these super adorable panda shirts from some friends a while back and I thought they would be appropriate for today's outing. Sadly, it was hard to get a photo of both boys in them with the actual pandas. This was the best we could do. Can you see the pandas in the background?

We stayed a couple hours and I think we ended up leaving after wandering through the tundra, euro-asia and the African savannah. No, we didn't walk the entire thing but let me just say, this was a total workout already. There were a lot of slopes and slants and the amount of walking we did whilst pushing the stroller... Mommy muscle I tell you. I've got them.

The boys napped for most of the day and missed a lot of the animals however, many of the animals were sleeping anyway. The weather was absolutely gorgeous. Sunny but not too hot with a bit of a breeze. It was the perfect fall day to get in some quality family time and some fresh air too.

And I don't know about other people's children but my boys hate shoes. Shoes and socks. They either try to eat them or rip them off. We always start off with shoes on both feet but end up with one or none. Sigh. You can kind of tell which photos we took in the beginning of the day and which photos we took near the end by whether or not they still have shoes on. Haha.

I really can't wait to come back next year. The boys will be older, more alert and actually walking. We probably won't have the same shoe problem anymore but rather how to keep them from running in every which direction. Ahh. I guess that's another challenge, something that we will deal with when the time comes.

Until next time! ❤️
