Twins' 1st birthday

I CANNOT BELIEVE IT! 365 days has gone by and my boys are officially one years old! Seriously, where has all the time gone? It felt like it was just yesterday when I held my babies for the first time in the delivery room. They were the tiniest little beings and now they are walking, talking and feeding themselves... It's funny because sometimes I look back and think how the heck did we survive that first year? It definitely was not easy but Hubs and I, we did it. *pats self on back* One year of twin parenthood down.

Normally we put the boys down between 6:30pm and 8pm but the evening before the boys the boys birthday we allowed them stay up. I actually ended up putting them to bed at around 8:30pm because I wanted to stare at them a bit longer. Yea, I know it seems a bit... melodramatic but if I could have had it my way, I would have wanted to be able to freeze that moment in time. I just sat there watching them play and babble to each other. Another incredible thing that happened was a couple days before their birthday they started walking! They were just standing on their own and learning how to balance and the day after their birthday party, BAM. Mason took a couple steps here and there and then Grayson followed suit. They're such big boys, boys who are ready to conquer the world and quite frankly, I’m the one who’s not so sure if I'm ready to chase 2 toddlers around.

I decided to throw the boys a party because well, who doesn't like parties? Right? Okay. But here's the real truth. Our dog Waffles had a pretty cool party for his 1st birthday. It was superhero themed and all the guests came dressed up as a superhero. Honestly, it was pretty amazing! (I will have to find some photos.) He will forever be my first baby and I love him to death but I just couldn't let him have a bigger party than my actual human babies.

I started planning a couples months ago and decided to go with the 'very hungry caterpillar' theme because the boys love when I read that book to them and I think it is the cutest. I read it when I was growing up. It's a classic. I have had some people ask me where the party bags are from. For those who are wondering, I got them off Amazon! They were a good deal and it was free two-day shipping! *go PRIME* As for the favours itself, we gave out books. There's a great UNDER $10 section at Indigo that's great for that! All the sweets (cake, cookies and macarons) were made by Jacqueline. You can find her on Instagram @jacqbakedgoods. :) They are as tasty as they look!

People tell me that this is the best stage and that I'll miss it. And people always ask if there's a possibility of us trying for another baby, perhaps a baby girl? Haha. If this year has taught me anything, it is that my hands are full but my heart is fuller. I'm really not sure how I made it through labour (my pain tolerance sucks) or how I made it through the first couple months of not sleeping and feeding every couple hours but I am content with just spending as much time as I can with my boys. I am so incredibly blessed that I can call these two babies, my sons. They have taught me the meaning of unconditional love as they test my patience every single day.

My wish for them this year on their first birthday (I get a wish right? I kinda blew out the candles for them....) that the boys will grow up happy and healthy and as long as they're happy, I'm happy. ❤️ I want to thank everyone who came out in the frigid cold to come celebrate Mason & Grayson's first birthday. It means so so much to us! We couldn't have made it through this year without you all. Thank you.

Sorry for the late post. I actually had this draft saved for awhile now. But I finally got around to posting it 3 months later. OOPS.

Thanks for reading!
